Toilet Seats - Thrones of Disease?

Toilets. We use them daily.  With that said, can we get sick or can we get some disease from sitting on a toilet seat, especially one that is not our own? Three separate microbioligists/immunologists answered that question in response to a query from gizmodo.com. Basically, the answer is maybe, but not likely. While I do agree with this, I think it is more likely than you would think. Most adults, are conscious about where they touch in bathrooms but kids not quite as much. It is imperative that bathrooms, especially high traffic ones get consistent janitorial attention.

It depends. Most adults will put toilet paper on a toilet seat before sitting down as well as washing their hands afterwards. However most people don't close the lid after flushing which can potential spread the bacteria upwards into your airspace.
