The Madison, WI, Fire Department was deployed to a Department of Corrections housing facility Tuesday night after residents complained of breathing issues.
The issues were caused by an unsafe mixture of cleaning chemicals, according to a story on channel3000.com. An incident report filed by the fire department indicated that toilet bowl cleaner and bleach had been mixed together, releasing dangerous chlorine gas into the facility.
After the facility was evacuated, a hazardous incident team was dispatched to monitor the air quality before allowing people back in.
