November 19 marks the annual World Toilet Day. It may seem like a humorous day to be highlighted annually, but the facts say otherwise. Around the world some 1.1 billion people relieve themselves in the open without the use of toilets according to the link above. This day attempts to bring an awareness to this serious problem. Besides the hygienic concerns, there are also concerns for women's safety and young girls attending school as the link mentions.
Although in this part of the world we have sanitation rules, toilets both public and private and a high concern for limiting the spread of disease, many in the world don't. What do you think about this concern and annual day?
