Where There Are Chemicals, There Could Be Fires

Here's an article out of Canada that emphasizes the care needed when handling chemicals. Even though they may not be extremely dangerous chemicals, chemicals are chemicals and precautions always need to be taken. If chemicals require the use of PPE, then use it! Goggles, gloves, a face mask; whatever it takes to stay safe and healthy and to protect not only yourself but others. And when you use any chemical, use some common sense please! Here's the news release.

Cleaning supplies are being blamed for an explosion in a Fredericton, N.B., apartment building Friday night.

Police received several reports about the blast after 9:15 p.m. It happened on Woodstock Road in the city's south end.

Police canvassed the area and found "significant damage" inside a single unit. Nobody was hurt.
Sgt. Charlie Cameron said part of the building was evacuated and a bomb-disposal unit responded to the call, but residents have since been allowed to return.

Officials said a misuse of cleaning supplies likely caused the explosion. The unit was being cleaned so it could be rented and someone left commercial-grade cleaners inside a working fridge. When the supplies cooled down, they exploded.
