The poll which was running for the last 90 days has closed. It dealt with what readers thought took the custodians the most time to do. Of the six categories available to respond to, four received votes. They were as follows: 9% said they thought mopping the floors took the longest. 36% said vacuuming, 18% said dumping garbage and 36% said locking the building. The answer: Vacuuming the building. Much of our time is spent vacuuming classrooms and entries. This takes quite some time especially when you factor in vacuuming around furniture, chairs, tables and other items. Often during inclement weather, vacuuming takes even longer. Extra dirt and debris is tracked in which slows down cleaning time.
One doesn't usually think about it, but cleaning the school is a huge job and most of it is done by the night crew which consists of three people. That's a lot of area to cover. They do a great job considering all the other interruptions and events they also have to cover. What would the school look like without them?
Thanks to all who voted on our poll. It's always interesting to see what people are thinking. Check out our new poll to be posted soon.
