Tick, tock, tick, tock. The clock is running. Time is moving, never stopping, never slowing although at times it seems to run faster or slower in direct proportion to our desires otherwise. And now, it seems, that is exactly what is happening in regard to our quest to get the school cleaned and prepared for September.
We have exactly four weeks left to finish cleaning the building, cleaning the carpets, scrubbing and waxing the floors and performing the yearly maintenance. Plus there's some moving of furniture to be done and extra chores should we have time. (Unlikely)
As I've always said, 'the high school is its own entity.' It is part of the district, but seems to be a world of its own due to the myriad events and activities that go on there. Because of that, we need to have all the "cleaning" parts of our job done by no later than August 15 so as to avoid conflicting with Bear Days and the return of teachers and administration. The final two weeks of August we spend on projects that don't put us in the main stream of things.
We're at the point now in the stream of time where we can begin to hear the distant roar of the white water ahead signaling more activities and a more hectic schedule. If all goes well, we'll have our oars in the boat and be drifting to shore just seconds ahead of the turbulence. Then we can saunter along the banks of the river Time and enjoy those last few days of summer as we finalize the building for another year of learning and fun.
